Getting to Manilva

BY AIR

There are many airlines now offering regular scheduled flights from various European cities into Malaga and a couple into Gibraltar, there is also the option of flying into Jerez de la Frontera. See Getting_here_by_air.

Easyjet - This no-frills airline offers flights from Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool London (Gatwick, Luton, Stansted) and Newcastle.

Ryanair - Offer low price fairs from Dublin.

Air_2000 - Operate regular flights from Gatwick and Manchester as well as 7 and 14 day charter flights from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Exeter, Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Stansted.

BY ROAD

Spain's modern system of national highways and Autopistas (motorways) make it easily accessible to the rest of Europe and car rentals are very competitive, especially out of season. From the UK and Ireland it is easy to take a ferry or the Eurotunnel to France and then drive down, or take a ferry from the UK to the north of Spain and then drive down. BY RAIL

The nearest mainline rail stations are in Malaga and Algeciras, although there are plans to extend the Malaga-Fuengirola branchline to Estepona and ultimately to Manilva by the beginning of the next decade. BY BUS

Bus travel is a popular and cheap way to get around Spain. Most buses are run by private operators and are comfortable and air-conditioned. If you are flying into Malaga there is a direct coach which picks up outside arrivals and runs non-stop, direct to Marbella from where you can pick up a bus to Estepona and beyond.

FROM UK and IRELAND - There are several operators offering budget and regular flights to Malaga from airports all over the UK and Ireland.

Getting here by bus

From UK - UK bus operator National_Express offer a regular coach service to Malaga, Marbella and Algeciras. Ideal for people who are not keen on flying!

From Malaga Airport - Automoviles Portillo operate an express service from outside the arrivals lounge which takes you direct and non-stop to the bus station in Marbella. It takes 45 minutes and tickets, which can be purchased on the bus at Malaga or from the ticket office in Marbella bus station, cost 3.80€. Departure times are:

Manilva - local bus service

February 2005 at long last saw the introduction of a local bus service for Manilva subsidised by the the Town Council.

The servicio urbano will be another step in bringing together the various population centres in the municipality into one unit, and as the development continues so will the service be expanded to cater for it.

The current route consists of 22 stops and covers from Manilva Town, The New Fairgound and Playa Paraiso and La Paloma. There is also a detour to coincide with the start and finish of the school day at the Instituto (secondary school).
